The New & Used Boat Co has today announced that it has acquired the sole rights to produce the prestigious Aqualine range of boats and from October the boats will be made in the UK. The company has previously been the exclusive seller of the boats since 2003 and the boats have hitherto been manufactured in Poland. Chris Hill, Managing Director of The New & Used Boat Co, said “We are delighted to bring production back to the UK and believe that it reflects well on Britain’s still strong skills base”.

The decision to source the boats from the UK has been made as a result of a number of factors including the increased availability of skilled UK labour, fluctuating exchange rates, and to enable more regular production visits for both customers and management.

Chris also said: “The Aqualine brand is very strong and is synonymous with quality and design. Due to the number of new projects being developed by The New & Used Boat Co I would be unable to spend as much time in Poland as I would like. I feel that hands-on management is of paramount importance to maintain such high quality, and to do this effectively we now need the boats to be manufactured in the UK.”

In order to achieve this Chris has chosen Midland Canal Centre Ltd, a company with a long and distinguished history building bespoke and production craft, to build the Aqualine boats under license. Chris explained “we felt that MCC would deliver Aqualine owners the level of quality they expect, due to their skill levels and experience, and a change in factory location will also make it easier for customers to visit their boats during production.”

Aqualine are proud to announce the next Canterbury widebeam LE is due to arrive at The New & Used Boat Co’s Blisworth Marina sales office the early part of February 2011. This new ‘showpiece’ craft promises to follow in the footsteps of the previous two Canterbury LE’s (which were both sold the moment they were launched) offering a brand new feature designed interior with plenty of innovative touches.

Once again interior design specialists ‘Bayswater Design’ were briefed to deliver a boat with a true ‘wow factor’ and from the sounds of it this is a boat dressed to impress – a contemporary aubergine colour theme, from the Farrow & Ball paint collection, sets the scene as the main colour in the galley which also boasts a feature extractor fan. In the saloon the stove has been centrally placed on a tiled base which also continue up and behind all the way to the ceiling – and to finish – bespoke hand-crafted furniture sits either side creating that real ‘home focal point’.

It’s a boat that has to be seen to believed and interested parties are encouraged to contact The New and Used Boat Co on 01604 859 376 today and avoid disappointment.

Over the summer Aqualine Marine has set up an account on Facebook. There you will find some photos, details of events, and a chance to start or participate in discussions. If you are on Facebook and love our boats then please become a Fan.

The New & Used Boat Co has also joined twitter, and you can now follow us on www.twitter.com/newandusedboat. Our updates or ‘tweets’ are a great way to hear about new boat listings or price reductions, events at our sales offices or even just what has been happening in the office or factory. We often have previously-owned Aqualine boats which come back to us to be sold on brokerage, so if you are looking for a boat without the lead time, or perhaps want to try a second-hand boat before committing to a brand new purchase, then twitter is a fast way to find out about these boats as they are listed.

The new Manhattan SE was launched at our VIP Preview event at Blisworth on Saturday 14th November. The layout of this boat is similar to the existing Manhattan design, with a bedroom at the stern and the saloon at the bow, but design changes have resulted in a boat with a totally different ‘feel’.

As well as additional downlighting under cupboards there is also more storage with additional overhead units in the galley and shelving in the bedroom. The galley units are now also painted, with a solid hardwood worksurface, and this looks fantastic. Different ‘coving’ and a stainless gunwhale trim with painted panels also create a different ambience, and the hardwood floor now has a border which looks stunning.

Below you will find a selection of comments made by the customers who attended. If you would like to see the boat for yourself then why not visit our Blisworth office.
